Heavy Rain is a video game exclusively for the PS3, develpoed by Quantic Dream, it has a very unique take on gameplay. It uses motion capture, and actors to play the characters, with everything filmed, the actors performances are very present in the game. It also is a multiple choice game, but the player must perform actions presented on screen, and there are often quick time events during fast paced action sequences. All the choices the player makes effects the narrative and changes the ending of the game, and can kill off characters (you play as four). This game is half video-game, and half film. It's a interactive movie where you make the choices, and help the characters survive. When released it was the only game of its kind, being completely unique. Since it's release the developer has created a similar game called Beyond: Two Souls, which stars Ellen Page and William Defoe. This is a machinima technique that I think should be used more often as its very effective, and contains the best of both worlds, something I would personally like to see more of in the industry.
