LSCC: Yanick Paquette
Yanick Paqutte is probably most famous for his work on the new 52 Swamp Thing (which is why we visited him to start with anyway, I'm a fan and wanted my books signed.) Yanick Paqutte talked alot about exploring more ways of storytelling, he thought our work was good, said it could be improved by looking at how the clothing moves, being careful of the physics, as clothing is not like spandex, you can't see muscles through it and suggested we draw the clothes on the body's rather than the body, then adding the clothes to solve this. He also mentioned being careful at were to place the light objects, as it catches the eye, and being careful about were to place the light. He wanted to see them in environments, to really get a feel of the in them in light and shadows. He did love the designs of the characters though, saying they were very cool ideas. He also drew us a diagram of how cartoony to make our drawings, telling us how the industry is at the moment, and where it is going. This was all really good news to hear, it always excites me to go home and start drawing again once I hear and realise all the mistakes I've been making.
