The first designs for Davy Jones took a more horror approach,
this works better as it keeps closer to the legend, arguments could be made
that the designs needed to be slightly more child friendly as a Disney film. With
the subject matter being an old legend of a monstrous, ruthless pirate whom supposedly
carried the dead into the afterlife, if you wanted to make a child friendly character,
this was the wrong route to go down with character choice.
