Tony Kaye
In the music video to Johnny Cash’s ‘gods gonna cut you down’ the director Tony Kaye, uses all black and white imagery of celebrities and individuals whom have lived a similar life to the artists. Using fast edits and photography he has captured a very dark and ominous, atmospheric music video.
Theo Kingma
Theo Kingma ‘s portrait of Russell Brand has an emotional tug,
knowing this man grew up a drug addict and has come from a heroin addict to
storming Hollywood proves nothing is impossible, although most would not
consider this man an idol I find it hard not to admire that much perseverance,
and that is what I think the photographer has tried to show due to the fashion
sense, lack of colour and faint smile on the subjects face.
Ian Spanier
This portrait by Ian Spainer has a lot of depth, knowing the subject matter is rock god Steven Tyler, I think it gives the piece intrigue, as the image and pose does give a very empowering feel, and the use of black and white photography with the strong contrast has a strong essence.
Heather Angel
Heather Angel is a hugely talented wildlife photographer; in
the image above she has captured an image which for most would be impossible,
not only due to the contrast and composition used, but also due to the
underwater nature of the photo, that being, crocodile and alligators usually dwell
in very murky waters.
Wen-Jié Yang Jus
This is a fascinating piece of art by the talented French photographer Wen-Jié Yang Jus. This is a beautiful use of light painting that must have taken considerable preparation and skill. The piece shows several parts which would have made this tricky to produce including the fact it is directly above a pool which is displaying no ripples.
