Old Man Logan is a comic set in the distant post apocalyptic future. It centres around a Wolverine who has vowed to never use violence or get his claws out again, a very uncharacteristic trait. This is hidden from the audience until deep into the volume, where we find that Logan had his mind bent by Mysterio to believe all the X-men where super villains attacking the school, and so murdered them all before realising what he had done. The land is run by Hulks inbred offspring and super villains rule the land and have spilt America between them. This re-imagining of the marvel world is not afraid to get violent and bloody. What I found the most inspiring about this small volume is how it re-created a whole world and made it seem completely real by using real and simple problems in a fanatical world, such as paying rent and mental health issues such as suicide and depression. The story starts from this real issue and expands to more unrealistic problems slowly taking the reader with it on this journey to slowly introduce these concepts.
