Drowning.
In this ideas I would explore the metaphor of a man floating out at sea, and when beginning to swim, a storm would start, the waves forcing him beneath the water. Where he sinks, drowning but unable to die.
Hermit Crab.
This one would only be short, simply a hermit crab leaving his shell. Mirroring the life and happiness leaving a sufferer as depression takes hold. Leaving only the empty shell remaining.
Bricks.
In this the sufferer would be going about daily routines but with black bricks weighing him down at the ankles and wrists, making it hard for him complete simple tasks.
Mountain.
In this we will see a man or woman climbing a great mountain, occasionally slipping, before rotating the camera 90 degrees to show others casually walking through.
Tunnel.
In this we would start by seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, our character will chase this, seeing it get further and further away before catching it, to realise it is simply a wall with a light shine painted on it.
Barb-wire.
In this we will see a man chained down with barb-wire, and be visited by himself or a force that will tell him to live, as he tries to break free the wire cuts into him, and he eventually gives in.
I have given one of these a quick go (the hermit crab one) and done it simply bearing in mind how the framing, borders and use of negative space can be a strong factor of visual story telling. I have named this piece 'Taking hold'.
